For many, re-entry is one of the greatest challenges due to insufficient resources, funding and opportunity. Eddie Mathis, took the initiative to unify several organizations who were working towards similar goals of assisting former inmates in their transition of re-entry into society. Together, they formed The Black Umbrella Coalition which includes community leaders such as Andre Marr, Dexter Forbes, Emmanuel McClain, Granada Phillips and Bria Jacobs and others, including THE RETURN magazine CEO, Mr. Elliott and Co-founder Christopher Hall. Collectively, they work together to provide information, resources and a supportive framework for those formerly incarcerated to support successful re-integration as they navigate through the challenges of their re-entry journey.
